Source
Copper, steel, mirror glass. Installation consisting of 25 mirrors
in different shapes and formats that fit together like a puzzle.
As a whole, the mirrors constitute two surfaces (ca 340 x 270 cm)
on top of each other. The mirrors are treated with chemicals that
have partly corroded the protective coat of lacquer, as well as
parts of the mirror itself. When the protective layer of lacquer
is removed, the mirror appears on the backside, covered in a golden,
warm hue. This is the side that becomes visible in the lower layer
of the installation. The surfaces bring to mind the image of water,
of a source. You can find your own reflection in the source, and
at the same time look into the depths.
The flowers are made of steel and/or copper. They rest on the water
surface, or between the layers of mirror glass. Something is dormant,
frozen.
